Amsterdam-based designer Claes Iversen's collections standout among his Dutch peers for their incredible use of colour, texture and silhouette all at once.
A regular fixture at Amsterdam Fashion Week, Iversen, who established his eponymous label a decade ago, has also showcased his collections in Paris and Dubai, reflecting the increasingly international recognition he is receiving for his signature designs.
Known to be an absolute perfectionist, Iversen is passionate about authenticity and purity, and dedicated to craftsmanship and excellence to the very last stitch. His signature style features a feminine silhouette executed in luxury fabrics, and he is a master of innovative combinations and unconventional uses of materials and colors.
The designer has received many awards for his creative work, including the Marie Claire Prix de la Mode, Amsterdam; Best National Designer (2008), Amayzine.com; and Creative of the Year (2016), to name but a few. The success of his creativity, and corresponding increase in demand for his clothes, lead him to open his prêt-à-porter line in 2014.
Here is a selection of pieces from his SS17 couture collection, titled ‘Horizontal Illumination’, which he unveiled during Amsterdam Fashion Week.
